Welcome to Shinbukan Canada
Shinbukan Canada teaches traditional Musō Shinden Ryū Iaido and modern Seitei Iai on the Sunshine Coast of BC.
We welcome students and experienced practitioners who wish to learn iaido to visit our dōjō in Pender Harbour.
Iaido is a Japanese martial art that dates back more than four hundred years. The name is usually translated as 'the way of drawing the sword and cutting', although 'the way of being prepared' is more accurate.
The instructors also practice Musō Shinden Jūshin Ryū iaido and Seitei Jōdō (we are affiliated to the Hoshu Vancouver Jōdō Club). We are members of the Canadian Kendo Federation.
The club leader is Judy Farncombe assisted by Martin Farncombe, both 5th dan.
