Canadian Kendo Federation: Our students may take ikkyu and dan gradings under the auspices of the Canadian Kendo Federation, and these grades will be internationally recognised. All students must be members of the CKF for insurance reasons.

Should kendo practitioners learn Iai? Yes! Seitei iai was designed to teach kendo practitioners the application of a real sword: your kendo knowledge cannot be complete unless you understand iaido.

That does not mean that iaido is superior to kendo: they teach different aspects of swordsmanship, and people who have practiced kendo (or to a lesser extent, an open hand style such as karate, TKD or wing chun) definitely have a better understanding of the distance and timing of iai.
